Modern stone facade with wooden elements: traditions in contemporary interpretation

#12540. Modern stone facade with wooden elements: traditions in contemporary interpretation

This modern residential house is an excellent example of combining traditional materials with contemporary architectural solutions. The facade is made of natural light-colored stone, creating an impression of solidity and connection to the local landscape. The stonework is complemented by vertical inserts of white brick, which rhythmically divide the facade into sections, adding visual lightness.

Of particular note are two protruding volumetric elements with large window-showcases, framed by wooden shutters. These projecting structures not only provide additional natural light to the interior spaces but also create an interesting play of light and shadow on the facade. The wooden elements of the shutters bring warmth and organic quality to the overall composition, softening the strictness of the stone masonry.

The upper part of the house is crowned with a traditional tiled roof with a wavy profile, which pays homage to local building traditions. In the center of the facade are two tall vertical windows, combined into a single composition, which emphasizes the two-story structure and creates a visual dominant.

When designing your own facade, you can adopt techniques such as contrasting combinations of traditional materials (stone, wood) with modern architectural forms, using protruding volumes to create facade dynamics, rhythmic alternation of materials for visual division of the wall plane, and harmonious integration of a modern building into its natural context.
