Dualistic Facade: Contrasting Geometry in Mountain Context

#11603. Dualistic Facade: Contrasting Geometry in Mountain Context

Before us is an impressive example of modern minimalist architecture with a pronounced contrast of materials. The building has a clear geometric shape with a triangular roof completion, reminiscent of the classic house form but interpreted in a contemporary manner.

The facade presents an interesting two-level solution. The lower level is made of light concrete with a characteristic formwork texture creating horizontal articulation. The upper floors are clad in dark tiles or slate shingles, laid in a diamond-shaped pattern, which gives the building a graphic quality and expressiveness. This dark volume appears to float above the light concrete base.

Particular attention is drawn to the large windows of irregular shape, asymmetrically arranged on the facade. They not only provide excellent natural lighting to the interior spaces but also create a dynamic composition on the simple geometric volume. The reflections in the windows show picturesque mountains, indicating the contextual connection of the building with the surrounding landscape.

This type of architecture demonstrates several techniques that can be adapted for a private home: contrasting combination of materials (light concrete and dark cladding), large window openings of non-standard shapes to provide viewpoints and natural light, a minimalist approach to facade design without excessive decorative elements, as well as a contemporary interpretation of the traditional pitched roof.

Facade project for your house.
