Cascading Wooden Façade: Modernist Home with Contrasting Finishes and Dynamic Composition

#11583. Cascading Wooden Façade: Modernist Home with Contrasting Finishes and Dynamic Composition

Before us stands an impressive example of modern architecture that blends modernism with evident influences of brutalism and natural aesthetics. The building presents a multi-level composition of clean geometric volumes primarily clad in warm wood. The façade demonstrates a masterful combination of contrasting materials: natural wood with horizontal board layout dominates the cladding and gives the structure an organic quality, while abundant glazing and elements of dark metal and stone create an expressive contrast.

Particularly noteworthy is the play of volumes on the façade — protruding cantilevers, multi-level blocks, and the glass superstructure of the top floor with a terrace add dynamism to the entire composition. The architect skillfully employed the principle of "floating" volumes, emphasized by the stone base. Panoramic windows of various sizes and formats not only ensure maximum light penetration but also serve as a key element of architectural expression — the boundaries between interior and exterior are blurred.

In designing your own home façade, several techniques used in this project could be successfully applied: the combination of contrasting materials (wood + glass + stone), horizontal wood cladding to visually expand the space, the use of protruding volumes to create a dynamic façade, and the thoughtful placement of windows of different dimensions to form an interesting rhythm across the façade. It's also worth paying attention to playing with levels and site topography, which allows the building to blend organically into the landscape.
