Geometric Concrete Facade with Wooden Accents

#11420. Geometric Concrete Facade with Wooden Accents

This is a striking example of minimalist architecture in the brutalist style. The monolithic concrete facade presents a clear geometric composition of volumetric blocks stacked with slight offsets. The architect masterfully plays with proportions, creating a sense of balance and dynamism simultaneously.

The building's facade is made of light concrete, giving it monumentality and expressiveness. Large panoramic windows on the lower and middle levels contrast with the massiveness of the concrete walls, creating an interesting interplay of light and shadow. On the upper level, there is only a small slit window, enhancing the impression of protection and privacy.

The wooden entrance area/garage with horizontal slats deserves special attention, as it introduces a warm natural element into the strict geometry of the concrete structure. This technique creates a pleasant visual contrast and softens the overall impression of the facade.

The house is harmoniously integrated into the natural landscape, positioned on a hillside among greenery. The architect took into account the features of the terrain, using the height difference to create various levels and approaches to the building.

For your own home, you could adopt the following techniques: contrasting combination of materials (concrete and wood), playing with geometric volumes, using large windows to connect with nature while maintaining privacy on upper floors, and integrating the building into the existing landscape without excessive interference with the natural environment.

We redesign facades of cottages.
