Symmetrical Art Deco Bas-Relief: Facade Decorative Element with Geometric Motifs

#1117. Symmetrical Art Deco Bas-Relief: Facade Decorative Element with Geometric Motifs

The image shows a remarkable example of an architectural decorative element in the Art Deco style. This is likely a fragment of a facade ornament from a building of the early 20th century. We see a skillfully executed bas-relief made of light-colored stone or plaster with a symmetrical composition characteristic of the Art Deco style.

The central element is designed as a stylized fan or sun rays radiating from the center. Below it are two circular ornamental motifs resembling stylized floral rosettes with concentric circles and volumetric central elements. On the sides of the composition are symmetrical circular medallions with geometric patterns resembling wheels or solar symbols.

The entire space of the bas-relief is filled with small decorative elements – spirals, floral motifs, geometric shapes – creating a rich texture and demonstrating the virtuosity of the master. Despite the abundance of details, the composition does not look overloaded thanks to a clear structure and rhythmic organization of space.

This decorative element is a vivid example of Art Deco aesthetics with its love for geometrized forms, symmetry, and stylized natural motifs interpreted through the prism of machine aesthetics of the early last century.
