Charred facade boards hit the market. Here's how it looks
The Suntan Wood catalog features samples of facade boards in various char depths, and even charring with color-tinting options. The boards come in widths of 95, 120 and 140 mm.
Charring protects the wood against fungus and rot. But the manufacturer warns against excessive exposure to sunlight. So you either have to accept the gradual fading of the dark samples or use the boards on the facade in fragmented, shaded areas.
The boards do not stain or give off an odor. They require a protective coating every 5–7 years and are said to last up to 80 years.
