Character Loft: Industrial Space with Mezzanine and Glass Skylight

#2621. Character Loft: Industrial Space with Mezzanine and Glass Skylight

This impressive interior exemplifies a magnificent conversion of an industrial space into a residential setting with an open floor plan. The former industrial building has been transformed into a modern dwelling while preserving the authentic character of the original architecture. The high ceiling with wooden finishing and a glass skylight creates a sense of spaciousness and fills the room with natural light.

The brick walls, left in their original state, introduce texture and historical depth to the space, harmoniously blending with the wooden floor planks. Metal elements of the roof structure emphasize the industrial aesthetic and create an architectural rhythm in the upper part of the room.

Functional zones are skillfully divided without using partitions: a kitchen with a stainless steel island, a dining area with a massive wooden table, a living room with a leather sofa, and a cozy reading nook with a suspended round chair. The white bookshelf stands as a bright contrast against the warm brickwork.

Lighting is resolved through hanging industrial fixtures that not only serve a practical function but also become a decorative element. Greenery on the upper level softens the industrial strictness and adds life to the interior.

This project demonstrates how designing a modern interior can take into account the historical heritage of a building, turning its architectural features into advantages. Similar techniques—preserving original materials, utilizing open space and multi-level design, contrasting textures—can be successfully applied when reconstructing old buildings or creating new homes with industrial aesthetics.
