#1946. Elegant Symbiosis: Stone Walls and Modern Comfort in a Reconstructed Country House

This is a stunning example of restoration and adaptation of a historic space into a luxurious residence while preserving the authentic character of the structure. Before us is an open two-level living room space in a reconstructed stone house, where historical elements harmoniously blend with modern comfort.

The most expressive feature of the interior is the original stone walls made of local material, which create a unique textural background and preserve the building's historical memory. The architectural solution masterfully emphasizes the height of the ceilings, while the open second level with a library and metal staircase adds airiness to the space, despite the massiveness of the stonework.

The designer skillfully works with light: an elegant crystal chandelier in the center of the composition contrasts with the rough walls, while numerous sources of warm directional lighting — wall sconces, candles, and lamps — create a cozy glow that highlights the texture of the stone. Window openings of various sizes provide natural lighting and a visual connection with the surrounding landscape.

The furnishings are done in neutral tones, creating a sense of modern restraint: light gray soft sofas and armchairs form a comfortable relaxation area around a wooden coffee table. Attention to detail is evident: live flowers in a dark pot, candles, and decorative elements on the table bring a sense of warmth and lived-in comfort.

The honey-toned wooden floor warms the space and balances the coldness of the stone, while minimalist rugs zone the area. The upper level with the library deserves special attention — impressive floor-to-ceiling bookshelves create an intellectual atmosphere and add depth to the interior.

When designing your own interior, you can adopt several techniques: contrast of textures (rough stone and soft textiles), multi-level lighting, color schemes based on natural materials, and the use of a neutral palette for modern furniture in a historical context.
