#3867. Historic façade of an English Tudor-style pub with characteristic tile hanging and half-timbered elements

The photograph captures a magnificent example of traditional English Tudor-style architecture. This sturdy two-story building, likely a historic pub or inn, combines several characteristic architectural elements of this style.

The façade presents a harmonious combination of red brickwork, terracotta tiles, and timber-framed elements. Particularly noteworthy is the wall cladding with overlapping red tiles (known as "hanging tile" or "tile-hanging"), which creates a textured, relief surface. The half-timbered structures with their contrasting white plaster and dark wooden beams are especially prominent on the gables and upper levels of the building.

The complex-shaped roof is covered with natural clay tiles in brown hues, giving the building an authentic historical appearance. Massive brick chimneys with decorative caps stand out on the roof—an integral element of Tudor architecture.

The window openings are predominantly small, featuring the period-characteristic mullioned glazing. The entrance portals are framed with wooden columns, adding monumentality to the building. On the right side of the building, a sign indicates its functional purpose as a pub.

The landscape design around the building complements the architectural composition: bushes with bright yellow flowers, evergreen plants, and neat plantings emphasize the English character of the structure.
