Modern country house with contrasting wooden facade and cantilevered extension

#13402. Modern country house with contrasting wooden facade and cantilevered extension

The presented building showcases an expressive example of contemporary residential architecture with distinctive horizontal wooden cladding. The house features an L-shaped configuration, where the main volume is finished in natural wood of a warm honey-brown shade, while the secondary block combines wooden cladding with white minimalist elements.

The facade of the main wing is characterized by rhythmic horizontal siding that visually elongates the building and integrates it into the surrounding landscape. Small square windows, positioned at equal distances from each other, create an ordered composition without disrupting the integrity of the wooden surface. Particularly noteworthy is the cantilevered extension of part of the volume over the concrete foundation, which gives the structure lightness and a contemporary appearance.

In the right section of the composition, the architect skillfully combines white surfaces with wooden elements, creating an interesting contrast of textures and materials. The ramp leading to the entrance group provides a smooth transition between the site levels and emphasizes the horizontal orientation of the entire composition.

When developing a facade design for your own home, several techniques demonstrated in this project can be adopted: combining natural materials with minimalist white surfaces, using horizontal cladding to visually expand the space, playing with cantilevered extensions to add lightness to massive volumes, and the thoughtful placement of window openings that create rhythm in the facade composition.
