#12191. Minimalist Coastal Facade: Harmony of Concrete, Glass, and Wood

This is an impressive example of modern coastal architecture executed in a minimalist style. The two-story residential house presents an elegant combination of concrete, glass, and wood, creating a clean, horizontally-oriented facade.

The upper level is designed as a light, floating volume with large panoramic windows and glass railings, creating a sense of transparency and visual lightness. The flat white roof with its wide overhang provides protection from the sun, forming a clear horizontal line that emphasizes the contemporary character of the building.

The ground floor is partially recessed and finished with a combination of materials: smooth gray concrete surfaces contrast with warm wooden vertical slats and fragments of stone masonry, creating textural diversity. Large glass sliding doors open the interior space toward the well-maintained lawn, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior.

A particularly successful technique is the combination of rigid geometric forms with the surrounding tropical vegetation — palm trees create a natural background for the architectural composition. The facade design employs the principle of contrasting textures and materials: smooth glass, rough stone, warm wood, and monolithic concrete create a visually interesting composition.

For your own home, you could borrow techniques such as: horizontal zoning of the facade using different materials; installation of large panoramic windows for maximum natural lighting; combining contrasting textures; integration of wooden elements to soften the brutality of concrete; and creation of protective canopies and overhangs to regulate insolation.
