#12079. Multi-layered facade with contrasting materials: a contemporary house with dynamic structure

The presented building showcases a striking example of contemporary architecture with an expressive composition of volumes and a contrasting combination of materials. The facade is designed in a minimalist key, yet possesses a dynamic structure through protruding elements and cantilevers.

The architectural solution is based on clear zoning: the lower level is clad in dark brick creating a solid base, the middle section features warm wooden panels with abundant glazing, and the upper volume, the most massive one, is finished with horizontal slats in a light shade. This division is not only functional but also visually lightens the massive upper part of the building.

Particular attention is drawn to the play of horizontal lines on the facade — from the slatted cladding of the upper volume to the window openings of the lower level. The cantilevered second floor with panoramic glazing creates a sense of the main volume floating above the foundation. The wooden window framing elements bring warmth and organic quality to the modern image of the building.

In personal facade design, one could adopt techniques such as contrasting combinations of materials with different textures, using horizontal lines to visually expand the space, creating cantilever projections to form a dynamic silhouette, and thoughtful zoning of the facade using different finishing materials.
