Cantilevered Facade: Modernist Brutalism with Textural Play

#10269. Cantilevered Facade: Modernist Brutalism with Textural Play

This modern residential building represents an impressive example of brutalism softened by light tones and modernist elements. The building's facade features a bold geometric composition with a projecting upper volume, creating a dramatic cantilever effect supported by a single cylindrical column.

The architectural solution of the facade is based on the contrast of textures and materials: light smooth plastered surfaces of the upper volume are juxtaposed with more textured stone cladding of the lower levels. The horizontal lines of metal railings on terraces and bridge structures add dynamics and lightness to the overall appearance of the building, softening the massiveness of concrete elements.

Special attention has been paid to working with natural light – large panoramic windows on the upper level create the impression of a floating volume, while wooden inserts on the facade add warmth to the overall palette of the structure. The thoughtful zoning of the space around the house, using concrete pathways embedded in the lawn and decorative concrete elements, organically complements the architectural concept.

For private homeowners, this project can offer interesting ideas for using bold cantilever elements, contrasting materials and textures in facade design. Particularly noteworthy is the effective combination of concrete, glass and wood, as well as the carefully considered integration of the building into the landscape, creating a harmonious overall image of a modern living space.
